Thanks for your feedback!
As your students are bringing home packets of information for you, be on the lookout for parent homework. This is something fun for both you and I. You get to share some successes your child has had over the summer as well as some things you would like to see us work on and improve in speech-language therapy. This provides me with good information and details to add in the IEP as well as things we can celebrate as a group during speech-language therapy. I look forward to seeing these papers return!

When you see your child's speech-language therapy letter come home, please take this time to discuss with your child his or her speech-language therapy goals. This is a great time to talk about what it means to be 'our best' as everyone will be 'shooting' to be his or her individual best while reaching for his or her IEP goals. This is one of my favorite talks with the students because it allows them to become engaged and actively searching for ways to improve his or her speech and/or language skills. Take this time to embrace our differences and strive for success! ~Mrs. Korth The school year is off and running. Three year reevaluations have begun and new referrals are rolling in. I look forward to beginning speech-language therapy with the students this week and next. Be on the lookout for information about when your child will be coming to speech this year! A little 'homework' piece will be coming home for you to fill out about your child as well...yes, parents get homework, too! Thanks for your continued support, collaboration, and teamwork!
Here's to a great year!

Welcome back to the 2015-2016 school year at Norfolk Public Schools- Bel Air Elementary and Grant Elementary! I look forward to working with each of you again this year! This year is Superhero themed for speech students, so let's have a super year! AND.... I have an announcement.....Baby Korth is due December 2, 2015!! This is our first child and we are so excited. I will be working up until my due date and then there will be a long-term substitute, Sherry Johnson- Speech-Language Pathologist. She will be covering for me for 12 weeks, not including the Christmas holiday. Today is the first day of the blog SpeechforYou. This is my speech-language therapy blog for students and families to check in from time to time. There will be information about speech-language therapy and some homework and fun activities that can be done at home. I hope you enjoy your summer and are improving your skills with each day! Shine on!
